Tips

  1. Replace your 1" Air filters monthly, no matter what the manufacturer instructions state.  The number one reason blower motors need to be replaced are because filters are left in too long. This restricts the air flow through the furnace, and overheats the motor. This is also hard on your heat exchanger, because your furnace will run at higher temperatures than it was designed for, and potentially cause your heat exchanger to crack.  Rule of thumb....it is cheaper to replace your filters monthly than to pay for unnecessary repairs or a new furnace.
  2. If you have an electronic air cleaner, wash your prefilters monthly, and your cores every 3 months.
  3. If you use 4" media filters, replace every 3 to 6 months.
  4. Clean any drain lines for the furnace or air conditioner yearly.
  5. If you notice ice on your air conditioner or copper tubing for the air conditioner, shut off the furnace and air conditioner by turning off the switch on the side of the furnace, or by shutting the circuit breaker off to the furnace and air conditioner, and call a service technician.
  6. Have a furnace and air conditioner tune-up done annually. This will ensure your system is operating safe, efficient, and reliable.
